The Impact of green energy investments on energy prices – PwC Romania and Romanian Wind Energy Association (RWEA) Conference will take place on 29th November 2011 (9:00 – 13.00) at PwC Headquarters – Barbu Văcărescu Street 301-311, Lakeview Building, 8th floor.
In a recession plagued economy, the Romanian wind energy sector has witnessed a real boom in the past two years. From just 14 MW in 2009, the Romanian wind energy installed capacity is estimated to reach at least 850 MW by the end of this year, more than the installed capacity of a nuclear reactor at the Cernavoda nuclear power plant.
The high interest for the wind energy in Romania lead to a surge in investments. Up until now, the announced projects to be completed in the next three years amounting more than 3.000 MW. This raises questions as to the capacity of the National Energy System to integrate such a massive amount taking into account the fluctuations in output.
There are also some voices that doubt Transelectrica’s capacity to perform the necessary investments in order to provide access to the grid for all operators, which could lead to a waste of potential, given that investors need guarantees that their money is going to produce healthy returns.
Also, there are fears that the subsidies that the green energy producers will be entitled through the green certificates scheme will lead to a significant increase of the energy price in Romania.
Are we dealing with a sustainable development of this sector, or is it just a circumstantial growth?
Would the investments in the field be threatened by possible modifications of the subsidies scheme, that some public authorities have already mentioned?
PwC Romania together with the Romanian Wind Energy Association have the pleasure to invite you to seek the answers for these questions Tuesday November 29 starting with 9.00 o’clock at the CONFERENCE: “The impact of the green energy investments on the electricity price in Romania” which will take place at the PwC Headquarters, Barbu Vãcãrescu street, nr. 301-311, Lakeview Building, 8th floor, sector 2, Bucharest.
During the event, PwC Romania will present the results of a study on the impact of the green energy investments on the electricity price in Romania, as well an analysis of the cost structure of the different energy generation types, taking into account the environmental costs as well.
The conference will gather all the stakeholders in the green energy investments: public authorities, supervisory institutions, the operators of the transport network, big energy producers, the investors in the field, banks, investment funds, consultants etc.
